Summary

Pete 'Skag' Skagska (Karl Malden) is a miner who has worked in the mines all of his life and been proud to do so. His children (Peter Gallagher et al), however, want something more than a career in the mines, and they all leave to pursue other careers. When Skag suffers a stroke, he must come to terms with his life and what it all means.
